Online therapy, the same work as in the practice
We are a psychology center in Málaga and, online, we see people all over Spain. Online therapy follows the same process as in person: the same approach, the same follow-up between sessions and the same psychologist for the whole process. What changes is the channel, not the work. You do not need to know how to explain it in the right words: you tell us in your own, and from there we build the plan with you.
And “your own words” is not a turn of phrase here. If you live in Spain and Spanish is not your first language, every session starts with a translation: you feel something, and then you go looking for it in a language that is not yours, right when you have the least energy for the search. Laura sees clients in both languages, so you can bring what is going on in the one you think in.
What you can bring to an online session
The same things you would bring to the practice. This is a center specialized in emotional dependency and in the bonds that tie you down: the difficulty of being without the other person, the constant need for approval, the relationship that hurts and that you cannot get out of. Also the behaviors that end up being the only way to calm down: the phone and social media, shopping, sex, work, food.
But you do not have to arrive with that identified, or with a name for what is happening to you. Plenty of people start by saying “I have been feeling off for a while” or “this happened to me once before and I do not want to repeat it.” There is more than enough to work with there. Putting a name to it comes later, and it is part of the work, not a requirement for getting in.
If you already know that yours is emotional dependency or one of those behaviors, each one has its own page where we go into it in detail, with the option of coming in person.
Why people choose online sessions
Almost nobody comes to online therapy for the technology. They come because of their life:
- Your shifts change every week, or you are on call, or work leaves you no gap in the middle of the afternoon. Online you save the trip and gain the slot.
- You live somewhere where there is not much to choose from, and the nearest practice is a long way off — and if you also want to be seen in your own language, there is less to choose from still.
- In a village or a small town, walking into a practice is almost a public act. Online that does not happen.
- You move, you spend a season away or you go to another city for a few months, and you do not feel like starting over, telling the whole thing again to somebody new.
- Getting around is hard: because of a mobility difficulty, because you look after somebody you cannot leave on their own, or because going outside is exactly what feels like an uphill climb right now.
None of those reasons is a “second best.” They are the reason this format exists.
How an online session works
You write or you call, we agree on a day and a time, and we send you the link to the session before the appointment, with nothing complicated to install. At the agreed time you go in from that link and we start: the session lasts the same as one in person and follows the same process.
If the connection drops one day, we carry on by phone and pick it up again afterwards. And if you need to change the time, you let us know on WhatsApp and we look for another slot.
Who it fits, and who it does not
It fits well when what you bring is a process that holds over time: emotional dependency, anxiety, a behavior that has turned into a refuge. That is, when the work consists of talking, understanding what keeps repeating and practicing new things between one session and the next, which is most of what we do.
It fits less well, and we will tell you if we see it: when what you need is urgent care, because this is a process and not an emergency service; or when, on trying it, you notice that the screen puts distance between us instead of helping you talk. If the second happens, we talk about it: we can move to in-person sessions in Málaga or, if that does not suit you, point you toward another resource. We would rather tell you than keep going with a process that is not doing anything for you.
What is said here does not leave here
Confidentiality is the same as in a physical practice and it is set out in the profession’s code of ethics. In remote practice we look after it like this: sessions are not recorded, the data you send through the form travels encrypted and is used only to reply to you, and no information about your health is shared with third parties.

Frequently asked questions
Does therapy online work the same as in person?
The work is the same in both formats: the same approach, the same psychologist throughout the process and the same goals, reviewed with you. What usually worries people is whether closeness gets lost through a screen; in practice, most people stop noticing the difference very soon. If at any point we see that the online format is not working well for you, we will say so and we will talk it through.
Which parts of Spain can you see me from?
Any of them. The practice is in Málaga, but online sessions do not depend on where you live as long as you are in Spain. If you live outside the country, write to us and we will look into it: there are schedules and some professional registration questions to check before we can confirm it.
What do I need for an online session?
A phone, a tablet or a computer with a camera and a microphone, and a connection that holds up. Also a stretch of time when you can talk calmly, without anybody overhearing you: it does not have to be the same place every time, and some people connect from a parked car, from a room somebody lends them at work, or from a quiet room when there is nobody else around.
Can I combine online and in-person sessions?
Yes. Some people combine the two: online sessions most weeks and an in-person one when they are passing through Málaga. We talk it through with you at the start and adjust it as we go, whichever suits you best.
How much does a session cost?
An individual session costs €70, whether in person or online. You will find the full price list on our services page, and asking commits you to nothing.
