You are no longer arguing about what you are arguing about
At first the arguments have a subject: money, the house, the in-laws, the phone. In time the subject stops mattering. You argue about how you talk to each other, and every conversation ends up in the same place: one of you pushes, the other shuts down, and you both come away feeling unheard. Then comes the silence, a little longer each time.
The opposite can happen too: no arguments at all. That you have settled into a polite, hollow way of living together, in which you no longer tell each other anything because what would be the point. Distance does not always make a noise.
And there is a third form, harder to name: the relationship in which one of you depends on the other in order to feel calm. You need constant reassurance, you check the phone, you measure the tone of every message, and without that person you feel there is no ground under you. If that is what you recognize, we have a page that tells the whole story: emotional dependency.
None of the three means the relationship is over. They mean there is something between you that has gotten stuck and that is very hard to shift on your own.
How the work is done: looking at what is between the two of you
A couples session is not about who is right. It looks at the pattern: what one of you does, what the other answers, and what keeps that wheel turning. It is almost always a wheel nobody chose and both of you feed without meaning to — one chases because they fear the distance, the other pulls away because they feel invaded, and every move confirms the other’s fear.
Putting that on the table in front of someone from outside, calmly and without reproaches, already changes the conversation. In the sessions we work, among other things, on:
How you talk to each other
The difference between “this hurts me” and “you always do the same thing” looks like a nuance. It is not: it completely changes what the other person is able to hear without getting defensive.
What you expect from each other
Many conflicts are not disagreements, they are expectations that were never said out loud. Bringing them into the open saves you from arguing for years over something nobody ever actually asked for.
Distance and closeness
How much space each of you needs and how to ask for it without it sounding like rejection. It is one of the most common mismatches, and one of the most misread.
Dependency dynamics
When the relationship rests on the fear that the other person will leave, the work is not only about communication: it is about learning to be all right apart as well. This is the center’s specialty.
Who it is for
- Couples who have been having the same argument for a long time and cannot find the way out on their own.
- Couples in a moment of change: moving in together, the arrival of a child, a change of job, a recent affair.
- Couples in which one of you, or both, recognize dependency dynamics: control, jealousy, a constant need for reassurance.
- People who want to work on how they are in a relationship even if their partner does not come.
Who it is not for
If what is going on has more to do with family life as a whole — the children, the roles at home, a hard stretch that is overwhelming everyone — then family therapy is the better fit, and we work with the same approach there. And if, as you tell us about it, we see that yours calls for an individual space, we will say so just as clearly.
Not sure whether what you need is couples, family or individual therapy? Tell us just as it is and we will point you in the right direction.

Frequently asked questions
What if my partner does not want to come?
You can start on your own. It is more common than it sounds and it blocks nothing: when one of you changes the way you communicate or set boundaries, the relationship moves anyway. Many couples start like this, with one person, and the other joins later on.
Are you going to tell us whether to stay together or split up?
No. That decision is yours and we do not make it for you. What we do is put you in a position to make it with more information and less noise: understanding what is happening between the two of you, instead of arguing about it at the top of your lungs or never arguing about it at all.
Can we do couples therapy if there is emotional dependency involved?
Yes, and it is exactly the ground this center works on. In those cases the work usually combines couples sessions with an individual space, because dependency is also held in place inside each person. In that first conversation we look at which order makes most sense in your case.
How much does a session cost?
A couples session costs €100, whether in person or online. You will find the full price list on our services page, and asking commits you to nothing.
